The Knights, the Brooklyn, NY-based chamber orchestra, has appointed Kristen Linfante as executive director. Currently executive director and artistic director of Chamber Music Pittsburgh, Linfante will join the Knights on January 1, 2024. Linfante was previously the general manager and director of artistic operations and touring for the Cleveland-based Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra. Early in her career, she served in an administrative capacity for artist management firms including Dispeker Artists and Schmidt Artists International. Alongside her long-standing work as an arts administrator, Linfante is active as a violist. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School, where she began studies at age 14. Linfante specializes in modern and baroque viola and has been a member of Apollo’s Fire since 2005. She has also been a member of the Orchestra de Catania in Catania, Sicily, and has performed frequently with the Philadelphia Orchestra; San Francisco Symphony, Opera, and Ballet; Houston Symphony; and Minnesota Orchestra. Linfante has been a violist at the Grand Teton Music Festival, the orchestral and chamber music festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for the past 27 seasons. The Knights were founded by violinist Colin Jacobson and cellist Eric Jacobsen, who are brothers and serve as the Knights’ artistic directors.
